Subscribable MailLists

What is a Subscribable Maillist?
A subscribable maillist is one that people may join on their own, without the need for you
to manually enter their email address. Subscribable maillists are generally focused
on a particular topic of interest, such as programming, science fiction, or coin
collecting.
When one member of the list sends an email to the list, all members of the list get a copy.
Mail Lists can accommodate up to 1000 e-mail addresses. Messages sent to the mail list
cannot exceed 75 kilobytes in size. The maillist address must appear in the TO
field of the e-mail; you cannot CC or BCC a maillist.
After you create a subscribable mail list, the list is managed exactly like a regular mail list. See the
Simple Mail Lists section for information on creating, editing,
deleting, and password-protecting your mail lists.
Creating a Subscribable Maillist
To create a subscribable mail list:
- Select "Mail Lists" from the left navigation bar.
- Select "Subscribable Mail Lists" from the top navigation bar.
- Enter the "Email Address to Subscribe" in the text box. This is the address people
will email to join your list. You need simply
add a note to your webpage such as "to subscribe to this maillist send email
to maillistname@yourdomain.com". You may use any name you like, but it should
be different than the name you give the list itself. Enter only the name or
title, such as join or info.
- Enter the mail list name in the "Name of Maillist" Field. This may be whatever you like but
it should not be the same as the Email to Subscribe. This is the e-mail address
you will send mail to for distribution to the list.
- Enter the message you want subscribers to receive after a successful subscription in the
"Message received by customer after they subscribe" field. The mail list will automatically
send this message via e-mail to the subscriber.
